POWER UP SUMMER FEEDING PROGRAM

In 2016, Lambuth Memorial began the Power Up

Food Program for at risk children and youth in the community.  The 2017 program begins May 22 and again will feed lunch to up to 60 children and youth, Monday - Friday, 11:30 - 12:30 through July.

 
OTHER MISSIONS AND MINISTRIES OF LAMBUTH MEMORIAL
  • ARM (AREA RELIEF MINISTRY) ROOM IN THE INN

Area Relief Ministries is a faith-based non-profit organization in Jackson that seeks to strengthen our community by alleviating suffering, promoting dignity, and fostering hope with those in need as an ongoing expression of the ministry of Jesus Christ. ARM partners with local churches to feed and shelter homeless men in Jackson during the cold winter months. Lambuth Memorial has participated in this program for several years hosting the men on the third Thursday of each month. We provide two hot meals and a place for the men to sleep.   

  • ASPELL RECOVERY/LIFEHOUSE RECOVERY

Aspell Recovery/Lifehouse Recovery is a drug and alcohol treatment center located near the church. Aspell Recovery is for men. Lifehouse Recovery is for women. Our ministry with them includes planting flowers at Aspell Recovery, providing a clothes closet for the women at Lifehouse Recovery, providing Zumba exercise three afternoons each week, and a card ministry. 

  • CARE CENTER BIBLE STUDY

The Care Center is located near downtown Jackson and houses homeless women and their children. Lambuth Memorial provides Bible Study at the Care Center on Monday mornings at 8:00AM, and one of our Sunday School Classes provides monetary support. 

  • C3 MINISTRY

C3 Ministry is Lambuth Memorial’s ministry in our community. In addition to our church building, we have renovated and are utilizing the other three corners of our church property as touch points for welcoming and sharing in fellowship with our neighbors. In the summer we put up signs and canvass the neighborhood to invite our neighbors church and community events. 

  • DEPARTMENT OF CHILDREN'S SERVICES

The Community Advisory Board of DCS receives donations that go to help foster children who are cared for by the TN Department of Children’s Services. Lambuth Memorial provides space for some of these donations such as clothes, suitcases, school supplies and toys to be stored. Lambuth Memorial is also the host site for the annual Foster Children’s Christmas party that includes eleven counties in the southwest district. 

  • GOD GROUP OF NARCOTICS ANONYMOUS

GOD group of Narcotics Anonymous meets in our fellowship hall on Wednesday evenings at 7:30PM and once a month on Saturday.  Our church provides a mentoring program for the children of the participants each Wednesday night. 

  • JOBS (Jackson Oaks Bible Study)

Jackson Oaks is an assisted living facility in north Jackson. Lambuth Memorial provides a Sunday School class for the residents at Jackson Oaks on Thursday mornings at 10:30AM. 

  • LANA (Lambuth Area Neighborhood Association)

Lambuth Memorial is located in the LANA community and considered to be one of those historical sites. We are the host site for LANA’s monthly general meetings which include a pot-luck dinner and speaker, and the planning of LANA community events. 

  • OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD

Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse that provides opportunity to share the love of Christ with children. The children of Lambuth Memorial have helped us get involved in this newer tradition of filling a shoebox with small gifts to be sent to children across the world. 

  • REELFOOT RURAL MINISTRIES

Reelfoot Rural Ministries is a mission program of the Memphis Conference of the United Methodist Church providing a range of social services in the impoverished rural areas Northwest Tennessee and Southwest Kentucky. It has been a long time tradition of Lambuth Memorial to collect toys for Reelfoot Rural Ministries toy store. A group of senior adults from our church deliver the toys and spend the day working in the Toy Store. 

  • RIFA SOUP KITCHEN

RIFA is a Christian nonprofit organization that feeds, clothes and trains people in need by combining life-changing resources from area churches, businesses and individuals to show Christ’s love in action every day of the year.  The RIFA Soup Kitchen provides hot, nutritious meals 365 days a year, including all holidays. There is no charge for the meals, and no one is turned away. There are many who get their only hot meal of the day in the Soup Kitchen.  Lambuth Memorial members are responsible for serving two weeks of the year, one week in the spring and again in the fall.   

  • WESLEY FOUNDATION UNIVERSITY OF MEMPHIS LAMBUTH CAMPUS

Wesley Foundation is a United Methodist campus ministry sponsored by the United Methodist Church on a non-church owned and operated campus. Wesley Foundation UOM meets in our sanctuary for worship weekly during the school year. Rev. Steven Fonville leads the group in praise and worship. They share a meal together in our fellowship hall each week following worship.
